HOW TO DRESS WELL is the stage name of songwriter and producer TOM KRELL. Combining a gorgeous falsetto with fractured R&B-influenced beats, an instinctive ear for subtly devastating melody and elements of noise, sound collage and avant-garde composition, KRELL’s 2012 release Total Loss, out via Weird World/Domino, offered a beautiful window into a startlingly realized artistic imagination. HOW TO DRESS WELL has garnered vast critical claim and even been accredited with having given birth to a new, narcotized strain of R&B that has since spawned a host of imitators. Brooklyn-based duo BEACON craft super smooth electronic with some heavy beats and R&B inspired vocals - as if that were all thrown together and taken out on the streets of Tokyo late at night. They put on an intoxicating live show, full of escalating, surging beats and rich, hypnotizing vocals, one that has had them sharing stages with GOLD PANDA, DROP THE LIME and NICK CATCHDUBS, among others. Electronic one-man rocker GRADES is the project of Chicago’s KORTLAND CHASE, who you may know from CHATTY CATHY or the new post-punk band PINK AVALANCHE. We can assure you that his live show is not to be missed, so show up early for a great show at a new venue for Empty Bottle Presents.
