Let’s give Ben Chasny credit for keeping his long-running Six Organs of Admittance alive, even if it’s occasionally shelved inside a formaldehydish jar of psychedelia now and again. He crept out of the West Coast underground music with Six Organs of admittance and the heavy Comets on Fire; then, when Arthur Magazine became the voice of a new musical movement, Chasny and his various projects (including ones he helped with, like Current 93 and Magik Markers) were seemingly everywhere. Chasny’s back this time, with a new batch of freak-folk tunes that sound like the 60s, 70s, or some future millenium yet to be named. Opening we’ll have Blues Control playing a delightfully tasty brand of hydroponic and rural jazz full of open spaces and expressive experimentation; we also have Cleveland shoegazers in what should be a memorable (and wonderfully loud) first slot.
