For tonight’s Free with RSVP show we welcome Brooklyn-based DIY duo SHE KEEPS BEES to our stage as they make their way home on a tour supporting their most recent 7” that features a splendid, smokey-voiced cover of “Blue Moon.” Having managed their own efforts independently since 2006, the pair that is JESSICA LARRABEE and ANDY LAPLANT has been admired by the Guardian as “sparse, soulful and defiantly retro.” We welcome their down tempo gems with open arms tonight. Photographer and artist MAREN CELEST crafts startlingly intimate songscapes that rarely go over the 2 minute mark and she returns after an impressive, evocative opening set for CIRCUIT DES YEUX this past August. Feel eerily close to CELESTE through the Lazarus EP, which is currently available for free download at her BandCamp and don’t miss this talented young songwriter’s intimate set. PALEO returns to the Bottle for the first time in almost a year and we’re excited to hear more of his sonic experimentation, as seen on 2011’s Fruit of the Spirit, a collaborative effort of friends and artists from across the Midwest that represents itself as a modern DIY symphony. Local artist and folk songwriter SHAINA HOFFMAN opens the show with her hauntingly beautiful, fragile songwriting that exemplifies how powerful and affecting a voice and a guitar can be when done right.
