Unless you’re up on things, their name is totally unGoogleable. Maybe that’s how these guys keep their underground edge? Their sound is based on a Brooklyn underground that hearkens back to 80s urban radio, when bands like UTFO, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Shalimar, and Ready For the World ruled the airwaves. Of course, Friends throws a little bit of funk-punk not far removed from Gang of Four and New Order. Given all these influences, don’t be surprised if this Sunday night turns into a total dance party.
