Be a part of The Nashville debut of New York’s Off-Broadway sensation, “The Losers Lounge,” with an eclectic tribute to the music of David Bowie! Special guests Sam Bush, Roy “Future Man” Wooten, Brendan Benson, Bill DeMain, Angel Snow and Kim Collins are just a few of the great performers who will be a part of the show. With many more exciting guests confirming daily, the Nashville debut of The Losers Lounge is sure to be a legendary event.
Joey Ramone, Debbie Harry, Ronnie Spector, Santigold, Cyndi Lauper, Fred Armisen and Moby are just some of the special guests who have been selling-out the New York-based Losers Lounge for over 16 years. Now, the popular variety show will make its Nashville debut Friday November 9th at Third & Lindsley, honoring the music of David Bowie.
It works like this: one backing band performs the full show with an eclectic and entertaining parade of guests, uniquely apotheosizing a music artist from a previous decade. The Nashville band for the David Bowie show include Loser’s Lounge founder Joe McGinty (former Psychedelic Furs keyboard player), Connie Petruk, Scott and Brian Hylbert, Charlie Degenhart, Kris Woolsey and David Ray.
“Nashville is the perfect choice as a second home for Loser’s Lounge,” says McGinty. “There is such a diverse artistic and creative community here, and a wealth of talent.”
The Loser’s Lounge is famous for combining sincere performances with comedic, theatrical and the unusual. "From Abba to the Zombies" as The New York Times said, The Losers Lounge is in the business of redemption; honoring pop stars from these eras and validating the zeal of music fans. From well-known composers like Neil Diamond and David Bowie to more obscure artists like Serge Gainsbourg and Harry Nilsson, The Losers Lounge walks the line between sincerity and irreverence to recreate the meticulous arrangements of the classic songbooks that you love.
Losers Lounge’s performances have been featured on NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and Night Of Too Many Stars TV Special, ABC’s My Kind Of Town, radio stations NPR, WFUV, WBAI, WFMU, and in press including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The New York Post, The Village Voice, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone online, Spin Magazine online, and Time Out New York who have dubbed The Losers Lounge “Essential New York.” The Losers Lounge is the subject of a feature length documentary film currently being made by Jojo Pennebaker. You never know whom you might see at The Losers Lounge.
