Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Dancey, Krauty, Athens, GA-based post-everything band MASERATI put out a LP, Maserati VII, last year on Temporary Residence. The new effort is a powerful, dynamic, melodic and tuneful edition to the band's decade-plus long career of churning out gleaming edifices of motorik psychedelia. The band's reputation varies depending on who you ask. They are either one of dance music's most viscerally addictive live performers or underground rock's most ingenious hybrid of U2 guitar heroics, PINK FLOYD arena-ready psych rock and DAFT PUNK head-slamming club-burning rhythms. Come out tonight to judge for yourself! MAJEURE is the alter ego of A.E. Paterra, multi-tasking extraordinaire and one-half of progressive krautrock duo ZOMBI. Decidedly more dance-oriented than ZOMBI, MAJEURE combines the dark Moog-driven film scores of Vangelis with the relentless drive of Can and the transcendent minimalism of Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The brilliant mix of live and electronic rhythms is the heart and soul of MAJEURE's music, which has a funny way of making time either speed up or stop entirely. Mathy, Krauty, trancey, pretty-much-everythingy experimentalists CONDUCTIVE ALLIANCE open up the show tonight and these Chicago boys have been working tirelessly to craft an original, exhilirating sound that is entirely their own. Buckle up, kids, and prepare for this spaceship to blast into outer space for a night of interstellar exploration.
