Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
San Francisco all-female trio GRASS WIDOW make their Empty Bottle debut tonight in support of their 2012 release Internal Logic, self-published on their own HLR Records. Blending post-punk aggression with hypnotic, heavily-layered melodies, the band’s haunting songs recall personal narratives of each member, with vocal duties being shared equally. Eschewing the concept of a “front-person” to avoid singular celebrity or spectacle, the music does the talking, and their fresh approach has received praise from various press outlets near and far. Iowa City's finest purveyors of psychedelic organ and drum music, WET HAIR return to the Bottle supporting their 2012 LP, Spill into the Atmosphere out via De Stijl Records. Featuring layers of vintage organs, synths and keyboards crashing and colliding to create a wild psych vibe, WET HAIR come across sounding like friendly robots taking over the circus. Chicago all girl punk quartet BLIZZARD BABIES return to the Bottle and the infinitely awesome NEON PISS, a punk band from San Francisco, kick off the show in support of their highly recommended 2012 self-titled LP. Get here early because you don’t want to miss these two openers.
