Cruz Contreras used to be in a band called Robinella and the CCstringband. That crapped out, so after a couple of years of suffering and dealing with having his face shoved in the BS feedbag we call life, Cruz picked up himself up and got back to making music. His newest project, The Black Lillies, has a new(ish) record out called 100 Miles of Wreckage. This Tennessee-based group sometimes err on the side of contemporary folk, but they do have an edge that cuts through any blandness. Plus, Cruz Contreras has taken to looking like a somewhat Latinized bearded Bob Dylan (Infidels era Zimmy).
