By skillfully complementing their deep roots in traditional American music with new ideas, songs, and arrangements, the ?all g?Earl? stringband Uncle Earl has emerged as one of the leading lights in the ongoing old-time renaissance. Now entering the band?s tenth year, longtime Uncle Earl members KC Groves and Kristin Andreassen are leading a new formation with the addition of fiddle player Stephanie Coleman and multi-instrumentalist Paula Bradley on banjo and clogging. Only sixteen years old, Sierra Hull displays instrumental facility and musical maturity well beyond her age with Secrets, her national debut album. Hull began playing mandolin at age eight, and quickly became noted on the national festival scene for her fluid, inventive picking ? winning several mandolin and guitar championships in the process. With a cult following reaching far beyond their south-western Virginia stomping grounds, The Dixie Bee-Liners are creating quite a buzz. Known for their high-octane harmonies and stunningly beautiful original songs, the band?s sophomore album, Ripe, topped several bluegrass charts.
