The Café Du Nord Needs Your Help! A culture war is raging between a Sacramento state agency and Bay Area independent live music venues such as the Café Du Nord, Bottom of the Hill and others. Through raids, fines, and serial litigation, California's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (the ABC) is bleeding these small businesses dry - while exacting a prohibitionist agenda that could ultimately change our local culture forever. Family-owned businesses like the Du Nord - which form the very foundation of our historic music scene - are now struggling in the face of these continued attacks. The Du Nord, which has operated for decades without complaints or violations, may be forced to close as a result of the mounting legal fees incurred in this fight.
