CONTINUING TO PIONEER the art of narrative chamber music, Fifth House is excited to collaborate with graphic novelist Ezra Claytan Daniels as the ensemble presents its third annual subscription series, titled Black Violet, for the 2009-2010 season. Fifth House's commitment to groundbreaking connective programming, dramatic interpretation, and creative energy has led to this unprecedented partnership, melding music of the highest caliber, vivid art and imagery, riveting narrative, and compelling characters as graphic novel slides illustrate the story.
OUR STORY takes place in the year 1665. London's black cat population is held culpable as the last major outbreak of Plague devastates the city. When her owner leaves home to care for the sick, a black housecat named Violet is forced to venture into the streets amidst one of the most terrifying passages of London's history. She finds her only ally in a street-savvy white rat named Tibia, whose true intentions may not, in fact, be entirely benign.
Join us before the show for a complimentary tasting of Matilda, a Belgian Style Reserve Ale from the Goose Island Beer Company, paired with cheese selections provided by Whole Foods Market Evanston South!
Genre: Classical/Performance art
