Over the past thirteen years, the French Broad River Festival (FBRF) has grown significantly and donated over $50,000 to designated charities during those years. Highlighting our first event was a raft race from Walnut to Hot Springs, NC on the French Broad, which has been a major focus since the festival?s inception. For the past five years, we have had the French Broad River Festival Bike Race, a SORBA and Asheville on Bikes supported event. Over the years, the FBRF has also featured such national recording artists as Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland), Reverend Horton Heat, Acoustic Syndicate, Rosie Ledett, Larry Keel, Blueground Undergrass, MOFRO, Toubab Krewe, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Gourds, Drew Emmitt Band as well as many other great local and regional musicians. Last year, the festival sustained over 2500 people from the year before; folks came from as far away as Colorado, Oregon, and Minnesota. We hope that our 2010 FBRF will be our best festival to date, with more people, more stages, more events, vendors and generous sponsors. Confirmed bands for the 2010 event include James McMurtry, Michelle Malone, Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, Mad Tea Party, Zach Deputy, Ryan Montbleau Band, Sol Driven Train, Snake Oil Medicine Show, WSNB, Agent 23 Skidoo, plus many others to come.
