Dec 6, 2009 at 4:20 PM CST Doug Benson at Lakeshore Theater - Chicago, IL $20.00
It would take too long to cite all of Doug?s credits, but here?s a small sampling: How does a little show called NBC's Last Comic Standing grab you? Fact: he finished top six last season, no big deal. Doug is a series regular on VH-1?s Best Week Ever. He also makes recurring appearances on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. On the classic sitcom Friends, he had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston. He has his own half-hour special on Comedy Central, is a recurring character on The Sarah Silverman Program, and oops, almost forgot, got Larry David in a headlock on HBO?s Curb Your Enthusiasm. If that's not enough for you, Doug also stars in Super High Me, a documentary about the effects of not smoking marijuana after smoking marijuana for a long period of time. On a similar thematic tip, he?s also a co-creator/writer of The Marijuana-Logues, a show that?s been a hit (small pun intended) in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York?and drawn a bongload of rave reviews. He also expresses his love of movies on superdeluxe.com and in podcasts available on iTunes. Enough about Doug Benson already!

Dec 10, 2009 at 7:30 PM CST (6:30 PM DOORS) Happiness Is at Lakeshore Theater - Chicago, IL $10.00
When Andrew Shapter, director of the critically acclaimed documentary ?Before The Music Dies?, decided to explore the myths and truths of the pursuit of happiness in America he did more than create a documentary - he collected wisdom on film. This very wisdom captured by Shapter is entitled ?Happiness Is? and it is a cinematic road trip and journey through history--without boundaries or prejudices--in an attempt to understand what happiness truly is, in the face of what the definition of happiness has become. Shapter and his small team traveled coast-to-coast, speaking to all sorts of Americans they encountered along the way in an attempt to discover what it means to be happy. In addition to examining the phrase ?the pursuit of happiness,? the film guides us through the eyes of spiritual leaders including the Dalai Lama, philanthropists, scholars, the occasional celebrity (including John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson), and a wide range of happiness ?experts? as they describe their experiences and definitions of happiness. One could even consider Happiness Is as a roadmap to happiness. In order to share this with the rest of America, Shapter and company have decided to take it on a screening tour around the country supported by generous sponsors. Their contributions allow the filmmaker an opportunity to help raise money and awareness for the different non-profits that the film partners with at each screening.. In its first public screening, in Austin, Texas, Happiness Is raised ten thousand dollars for a local Austin homeless children?s charity. This created buzz and now hundreds of non-profit organizations have requested the film screening in their own communities while on tour. Shapter and his team are working hard to make this happen. If a quarter of the population in America saw this film, it could change this country for the better.

Dec 26, 2009 at 8:00 PM CST (6:30 PM DOORS) Patton Oswalt at Lakeshore Theater - Chicago, IL $25.00
The comedic powerhouse comes back to Lakeshore not only for more laughs, but as a benefit show for the Theater as well. In the true spirit of giving, Oswalt agreed to have proceeds from this show go directly to Lakeshore for repairs and improvements to keep the good times rolling for years to come. Oswalt?s career is in full swing, recently having recorded his third comedy album at the Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in Washington D.C. It premiered on Comedy Central as Patton Oswalt: My Weakness is Strong on August 23, 2009. Additionally, he has participated in Comedy Central?s roasts of Flava Flav and William Shatner, as well as voicing Remy the Rat in Disney/Pixar?s Ratatouille. In 2004, Oswalt put together the Comedians of Comedy tour, made up of modern alt-comics Zach Galifinakis, Brian Posehn and Maria Bamford. The tour performed at smaller, more intimate indie rock venues instead of traditional (and expensive) comedy clubs. The Fall 2004 tour was documented in a 2005 film of the same name, and was followed by a six-episode Comedy Central series based on the Summer 2005 tour.
